Patty Jonas, MS, LPC

I grew up in central South Dakota and have lived most of my life in the area. I graduated from Northern State University in 2015. I then attended graduate school through SDSU at the West River campus in Rapid City graduating in 2018 with a Master’s degree in Counseling. After graduate school, I worked with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in addition to their families.
My theoretical approaches to working with clients include client-centered, acceptance and commitment, and cognitive behavioral therapies. I have training in using play therapy techniques and completed a certificate program in play therapy through the Heartland Play Therapy Institute and have attended training in FirstPlay and Theraplay—forms of play therapy that help foster healthy attachment in children. I am in the process of becoming a registered play therapist through the Association for Play Therapy. I have also completed training in working with trauma and have been trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, crafting, being in nature, and hiking in the Black Hills. I look forward to serving clients of all ages and concerns.
