Kelsey Borchard, MS, LPC-Supervisee
Arriving at Rising Hope, I reflect on a journey here that has been deeply informed by working daily with children. First as a 3rd grade teacher, and then more recently as a school counselor. Being a part of the public education system for eight years, I learned countless lessons about children and family systems. Most importantly, I have learned that children are able to learn well if their needs are met both physiological needs as well as their feelings of safety, love/belonging, and connection. Drawing from Adlerian theory as well as play therapy techniques, I hope to instill HOPE through encouragement and connection to all of my clients. My passion lies in working with children and teens but am looking forward to connecting with adults as well. My educational background includes: Bachelors in Elementary Education (NSU), Master of Science in Counseling and Human Development with specializations in School Counseling (SDSU). Currently, I am finishing up my Play Therapy coursework at SDSU, and will have my RPT license soon. My husband and I have two young children and a labradoodle. Whether it be a new restaurant, park or simply going on a walk outside, we enjoy spending time together. I also enjoy playing and watching sports (more watching than playing these days!) and exercising when I get the chance.
