grew up in a small town in NE South Dakota. I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and a Bachelor of Sciences Degree in Social Work from Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, MN in 2011. I furthered my education at the Adler Graduate School in Richfield, MN and obtained a Master of Arts Degree in Adlerian Counseling and Psychotherapy specializing in Clinical Mental Health. I completed this degree in 2013. While attending graduate school, I worked as a Licensed Social Worker in a healthcare setting. I had the opportunity to work with patients and their families at a cancer center and on the inpatient floor. During that time, I also started working in community behavioral health. I’ve since worked in community behavioral health for 10 years. I am a board approved supervisor and have provided supervision to clinicians for 5 years. I have worked with clients of all ages and populations including individuals, couples, and families. I have experience in working with clients in the following areas: depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, suicidal ideation, PTSD/trauma, relationship conflicts, grief/loss, and more.

My favorite evidenced based theories and techniques include Adlerian Therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused brief therapy, motivational interviewing, and many more. I am excited to receive training in EMDR as I have seen the life changing transformation this has provided to past clients.

I have lived in Brookings for 8 years and am excited to expand the Rising Hope team to the community! My credentials include: Licensed Professional Counselor – Mental Health, Licensed Social Worker, and Qualified Mental Health Professional. I enjoy spending time with my family,  two children, and my dog.
