  • Bailey Schmidt, MS, LPC

I grew up in Dell Rapids, SD all my life so working in Madison feels right at home. I attended South Dakota State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development & Family Studies. In December of 2021, I graduated with a Master of Science in Counseling and Human Development with a specialization in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I also have completed the play therapy courses through SDSU and am currently in the process of becoming a registered play therapist.

My theoretical approaches are cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered, mindfulness exercises, and play therapy techniques. I emphasize the importance of self-care, coping skills, and the therapeutic relationship in the work with my clients. I have experience with individuals starting at the age of 3 conducting play therapy all the way to adulthood. Most of my work has been with individuals of all ages who have endured trauma and abuse. I also have experience with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD, adjustment issues, and behavioral concerns. I am passionate about providing comfort and healing to those who need it and meeting my clients where they are currently at.

In my free time I enjoy relaxing by watching a movie or reading a good book. I love playing with my dogs, trying new food, and spending time with those I love and care about!

“Enter into children’s play and you will find the place where their minds, hearts, and souls meet.”-Virginia Axline
